Monday 13th July

Oh my ears and whiskers! I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!

I woke up about 2am this morning sat bolt upright and said, ‘THE BLOG!’. Do I have an excuse for being late with the blog? That depends on whether you will accept my explanation and my apologies. Here goes…

Yesterday, like everyday, was a really busy day at Olive Hill. I was working with Mr Priest and Miss Walters for much of the day, looking at the smaller details (those inner jigsaw pieces) of our full return to school in September. I will tell you now that trying to get seven year groups through lunchtime, whilst keeping them separate, is logistically very challenging! Don’t worry, Miss Walters is on the case and she is working on a timetable!

At the end of the day we had an extended leadership team meeting, like we do every Monday. In the meeting we also spent time looking at the finer details of our full return to school. We had a lot of discussion about what the classrooms would need to look like (we have been asked by the government to sit our tables facing forwards where possible) and other arrangements such as: coat pegs, musical instrument, equipment, bags, books, paper, lunchboxes, playgrounds, corridors, toilets, mobile phones, letters, home learning … honestly, the list just goes on and on. Every time I walk around the school I think of something else that we will need to consider.

Following the above meeting, I then went straight to our LGB meeting. Can you remember what LGB stands for? This was a long, but very important meeting. I bet you can guess what we discussed in the meeting? Our full return to school in September. The meeting finished about 7.15pm and I left school straight away. My stomach was rumbling and I needed to eat! It wasn’t until 2am this morning that I remembered the blog.

So, there you have it, my reason for not writing to you yesterday. I have come straight into school this morning and started typing. Today you will get two blog entries.

I must dash now, or I will be late welcoming the children into school. You should all be getting some post over the next few days - our postal people are working very hard to prepare your packages.

We miss you. Stay safe.
