Friday 10th July

Happy ‘bubble’ Friday everyone! We loved our bubbles this morning. Mrs Higgins had a new bubble blowing tool that created the most amazing bubbles. If you live local to the school, you may have even seen the bubbles floating over the rooftops.

Sadly, it was our last bubble Friday. The children who have been attending school will finish next Thursday. I am very much looking forward to the fancy dress. I have a sneaky suspicion that bubbles may make an appearance, even though it is a Thursday.

Families, we have now produced detailed guidance on the full reopening of school in September. You will find the guidance on our website and we will also send a paper copy home with your child’s report.

I know that many of you are desperate to find out who your teacher will be next year. Full information regarding this will come out with your reports next week. The staffing for next year is as follows:

Team Nursery: Mrs Skidmore, Mrs Parker and Mrs Aziz

Team Reception: Mrs Shinner, Miss Cooper (who will return as Mrs Honey, as she is getting married), Mrs Copson, Miss Saleh, Mrs Fawke, Mrs Allen and Mrs Sheasby

Team Year One: Mrs White, Mrs Waters, Mrs Stonehouse and Mrs Birch

Team Year Two: Mrs Higgins, Miss Grice, Mrs Marriott and Mr Roberts

Team Year Three: Miss Hackett, Miss Care, Miss Frost and Mr Brady

Team Year Four: Miss Macaskill, Miss Best (when she returns from maternity leave), Mr Powell and Mrs Waldron

Team Year Five: Miss Richardson, Miss Homer, Mrs Hamblett, Miss Clarke and Miss Mullard

Team Year Six: Miss Raphael, Mrs Tansley, Miss Thacker and Mrs Dudley

Your new teachers will be phoning you next week and they are very much looking forward to speaking with you.

It has been another busy week at Olive Hill. I have spent most of it in my office preparing for our return in September and I have really missed being able to interact with the children. Here are just a few things that have taken place over the week:

  • Mr Weston is now painting the classrooms (Mr Weston doesn’t actually like painting, but he has done such a fantastic job of the halls everyone is now demanding that he paints their classroom).

  • One of our year 2/3 magical bubbles made cakes - I did not get one!

  • Another of our year 2/3 magical bubbles hosted our weekly quiz. I enjoyed most of the rounds, although I did find the Fortnite round rather tricky!

  • We received an awesome video from our children.

  • The staff completed an awesome video for the children. I hope you have seen it, if not do look on the website for it.

  • We have had lots of deliveries of new equipment for next academic year. Mrs Carpenter and Miss Lee are busy sorting it out.

  • We have not really enjoyed the weather this week. We have had quite a lot of rain and that has meant we have not been able to go outside as much.

  • Year one had a mini Sports Day - they had running and jumping races, bean bag balancing and target throwing.

  • There is furniture everywhere! We are trying to get the classrooms ready for September and this is a huge task, particularly as we have swapped some of the rooms around for next year. Current year two classrooms will become year one classrooms; current nursery will move to the other side of the EYFS environment so we can create two reception classrooms - confused - so am I!

It is now time for me to sign off. I still have a few reports left to comment on and then I want to go home and collapse on the sofa. I hope you all have an amazing weekend.

We miss you. Stay safe.
