Friday 7th March
Happy Friday!
What an exciting and action-packed week it has been for our year six children! A group of them embarked on an unforgettable adventure at PGL, where they took part in thrilling activities such as zip wiring, aeroball, archery, ambush, trapeze, high ropes, and canoeing. I had the pleasure of visiting them on Tuesday night and was able to witness their fantastic teamwork as they collaborated to build a protective structure for a water balloon. They returned home on Wednesday, exhausted but full of joy and wonderful memories. A huge thank you to the staff who attended PGL with them and gave up their time to facilitate such a wonderful experience for the children.
Meanwhile, the rest of year six enjoyed an engaging activities week. They unleashed their creativity by designing their own mugs, had fun playing games, and showcased their culinary skills by making delicious pizzas. On Wednesday, they went bowling and had a fantastic time, even making up chants to support and encourage one another.
Thursday was a another highlight of the week as we celebrated World Book Day. The children embraced the theme by dressing as a word, and their costumes were truly impressive! The afternoon was filled with book-related activities across the school:
Nursery strutted their stuff in a costume catwalk and shared their favourite stories.
Reception designed new front covers for their favourite books.
Year 1 took part in a word parade and practised drawing their own characters.
Year 2 read Never Show a T-Rex a Book and then imagined how they could change the world when they’re older.
Year 3 wrote thoughtful book reviews.
Year 4 transformed potatoes into book characters, challenging their classmates to guess who they were.
Year 5 participated in a book blitz, analysing a variety of books.
Year 6 put their knowledge to the test with a quiz using Blooket.
To round off the day, our teachers joined in the fun by taking part in a book swap, where they visited different classes to read a story.
It was a fantastic week of learning, adventure, and creativity! Well done to all the children for their enthusiasm and engagement. I am incredibly proud of our school community.
Looking forward to another great week next week. Have a wonderful weekend.
