Friday 15th October
Happy Friday!
We are all feeling rather full after our lunch of pizza and chips! We always have a lot of children, and staff, coming through for lunch on a Friday.
Thank you to all the families who have attended parents’ evening this week. It has been wonderful to have our parents and carers actually inside the school building. We are looking forward to welcoming more of our families next week. It is really important that we share your child’s learning journey with you and we have certainly seen some very proud parents and carers leaving the building this week.
The school photographer will be in school next Thursday (21st October). It has been quite some time since the last visit! If your child is due to come in PE kit on that day, you have two options to ensure they are looking their best for the photograph:
Send your child to school in uniform with a PE kit ready to change later in the day;
Send your child in with a white polo shirt and jumper, rather than the usual PE kit of a white t-shirt and jumper.
Dudley local authority have confirmed that they will be providing vouchers for those children entitled to benefit-related free school meals for the October, Christmas, February and Easter holidays. School will administer these vouchers and a text/email will be sent to eligible recipients next week for the October half term. School does not process applications for benefit-related free school meals, this is done through the local authority. If you feel you could be untitled to benefit-related free school meals then please visit the Dudley Council website: https://www.dudley.gov.uk/residents/benefits/free-school-meals/
If your child is in receipt of universal free school meals (available to all children in reception, year one and year two) this does not automatically qualify them for vouchers. The vouchers are for benefit-related free school meals only. We would encourage all families to visit the Dudley Council website to view the eligibility criteria and to make an application if they meet the criteria.
We have some children who are arriving late for school and this will impact on their learning. The school gates close at 8.55am and we expect all of our children to be in school prior to them closing. At 8.55am the staff need to return to the school building to register the children without delay. Interventions and 1-1 reading also begin at this time. There is a 10-minute gentle start to the day (between 8.45am and 8.55am) to support everyone to be punctual.
Thank you to all the families who have supported our Harvest collection. We are humbled by the generosity of our community and know that the food items will support those in need.
We finally have new rugs in our reception classes! Yay! We ordered the rugs quite some time ago but due to problems with the delivery we had to wait a long time for their arrival. Not only do we have new rugs in reception, we will also be having new carpets in the top corridor and some KS2 classrooms. We all feel that it is important that our children have a nice environment in which to learn, feel valued and belong, and Mr Weston takes the lead in ensuring that this vision is a reality.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.
Stay safe.
