Monday 6th July

Hello, hello, hello! How are you all today?

Another weekend has been and gone. I just don’t know where the time is going. We are now in full preparation for September - the displays are coming down, books are being labelled, stock is arriving, furniture is being moved, paperwork is being shredded, boards are being backed, rubbish is being thrown - and all this is being done in a socially distanced environment. We have come across a few challenges, especially as we are not able to do some of these tasks whilst the children are in their bubbles.

Families, the children will return in September wearing their school uniform. I know that many of you like to be super organised and purchase uniform before the rush at the end of the summer break. If you would like to order a school jumper or cardigan please phone the school office. The lovely ladies in the office will check that we have the size you require in stock (when considering what size to get, bare in mind that your child is likely to grow over the holiday). If we have the size you require in stock, then we will arrange a time for you to come and collect the jumper/cardigan. We will take payment on collection. If you are unable to phone us during working hours, then please email us at: info@olive.dudley.sch.uk. The working hours in the office are 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday. Our office will close on Friday 17th July at 2.30pm and reopen on Tuesday 1st September at 8am.

When purchasing school uniform, please remember that the children are expected to wear school colours. Jumpers and cardigans must be royal blue; trousers, skirts, tailored shorts, pinafore dresses and any other variables must be charcoal grey; polo shirts must be plain white; summer dresses must be royal blue check; socks must be plain white, black or grey and footwear must be completely black (the only exception to this are sandals, which can be plain white, plain black, plain grey or plain royal blue).

It seems very strange to be talking about September after so much uncertainty. We are very excited about bringing all of our children back in September, but we are having to look at things a bit differently and we will need to make some changes to our routines. We also have to make sure we are prepared in case there is a local lockdown at any time. Currently we have 100 children in school, in September that number will increase to 450. We will still be required to work in magical bubbles (there will just be more magic, as the bubbles will be bigger) and we still need to have social distancing measures in place between the bubbles. At the moment we are still in the planning stage. Once our plan is complete, we will then share it with SVAT and our LGB. As soon as it has been approved, we will share a very detailed document with you early next week.

We miss you all very much. Stay safe.
