Friday 4th September

HAPPY FRIDAY!

This week we welcomed back our wonderful children. Anyone who saw me on the gate would have seen just how excited I was to be opening the gates of our school to our children who would once again fill the building with noise and laughter. My excitement was shared by all of the staff, with many not able to sleep on Wednesday night.

Due to the current situation regarding COVID19 we have had to make some changes to our routines. Our staggered start and finish has gone relatively smoothly, and we have quickly been able to find solutions to any problems that have arisen because of the changes. Thank you to all of our families for supporting us with these changes. Our school gates will open at 8.30am for drop off in the morning and 2.45pm for collection in the afternoon. Please don’t arrive before these times as it causes congestion on the pavement outside of school. Today the Senior Leadership Team had great fun spray painting the car park - many of you will have seen our social distancing doves! Our school community automatically knew why we’d put them there and stood on the doves to allow for social distancing - THANK YOU!

At the moment the priority for our class teachers is to ensure that the children are greeted by familiar face as they enter their classroom, this means that you don’t often get to see your child’s teacher. We will be reviewing this over the next couple weeks as we do want to ensure that class teachers are available to speak to parents regularly. In the meantime, please speak to any member of staff available on the car park or phone the school office and the class teacher will contact you when they are not teaching. The partnership we have between home and school is very important to us.

We are so proud of our children. They have come back into school beautifully. We have loved hearing all about their adventures during lockdown. Our attendance has been impressive! They have adapted to their new routines straight away: year one are ready to move to their classrooms from Monday and will come in through the main point of entry (they will also be collected from this area); year six have grown LOTS and are looking forward to having more responsibility around the school; the older nursery children are enjoying their new environment; year two are feeling very grown up now they are sat in rows; year four love having an afternoon break; year three have been so good at collecting their lunch and eating it in their classrooms and year five have become experts at hanging their coats and bags on the back of their chairs. Our new reception children are looking forward to visiting the school next week in preparation for attending full time the following week.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone. It is great to have our school community back together once again!
