Friday 11th September

Happy, happy, happy Friday to our wonderful community.

I hope you have all had a successful week. We have completed our first full week of the academic year and all of the staff have loved it! It is a joy to welcome our children into school in the morning, there is nothing better than seeing their smiling faces. It is also a joy to watch how happy they are at the end of the day when they are collected by their special grown-ups. There is nothing better than knowing that a child is happy both at home and school.

Our new routines are embedding much quicker than we predicted. This is good as I think they could be around a lot longer than we had anticipated. Families, thank you for the support that you have shown at drop-off and collection. The majority of you have been exceptional in following all the restrictions regarding Covid19 and this has ensured that as staff we have been able to focus on making sure the children are feeling secure and supporting with any queries you have. Please make sure you are adhering to the one way system at the gates.

Every year, we have to collect consent from parents/carers for a variety of purposes. Next week, Mr Patel will be sending out a link, via text message, regarding consent to use your child’s image. You will receive a separate link for each child you have at the school. It is really important that you complete the form so we know your preferences. If you do not have access to the Internet (the form can be completed on a smart phone) then please contact the school office who will offer their support.

A few parents have been surprised that we are serving hot meals. It is important to us that we are able to offer the children a hot meal option at lunchtime. All children in reception, year one and year two are entitled to universal free school meals and are eligible to have a school meal everyday should you wish. For our key stage two children, if they are not entitled to free school meals then the cost of a dinner is £2.40 per day. Your child is more than welcome to bring in their own packed lunch.

Our partnership with home is really important. This week, the class teachers have been spending more time outside ready to greet not only the children but parents and carers also. Please do speak to your child’s class teacher even if it just to say hello. In the current circumstances we are not able to have lots of parents inside the school building at one time, that means we will not be able to hold our traditional parent-teacher consultations this term. Over the next two weeks, your child’s class teacher will be phoning you to let you know how your child has settled and answer any questions that you have. We will spread this out over a fortnight as we only have a certain number of phones and staff need to remain within their year group bubble.

Wish you all a fabulous and safe weekend.

See you on Monday.
