Friday 19th May
Happy Friday!
It has been a fun week at Olive Hill with the highlight for many being the disco on Wednesday. There was a lovely party atmosphere at both of the disco sessions with the children enjoying their snacks and busting some moves on the dance floor. The music was pumping so much, our amplifier couldn’t quite cope! Luckily, we did have a back up so the disco could continue. Thank you to Mrs Higgins and the Friends of Olive Hill team for their organisation and hard work in making the disco happen. Thank you to all the children who supported us by attending.
It has been another week of SATs, but this week it was year two’s turn. We have been really impressed with how hard the children have been working on their ‘quizzes’ this week - we know that they have all tried their very best. We asked the children how they got on. They told us:
“I think the maths paper was easy but there were a couple of questions at the end that were really hard.”
“The spellings were kind of hard.”
“The reading papers made me think. We had to be very quiet but I liked doing them because they helped me learn.”
“Some were easy; some were hard. My favourite was the maths because I’m really good at maths.”
“I liked the maths because I liked solving the problems.”
Following their SATs week last week, year six have begun rehearsals for their end-of-year production. They have auditioned for and received their roles and the children are now enjoying practising the funny parts of the show. The children might give grown-ups at home a rendition of the songs they have been learning too! We are all looking forward to seeing production as it comes together over the next few weeks.
Year three have thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the motor museum as they learnt all about the history of transport. The museum staff commented on how well the children behaved and engaged in the workshops. Well done, year three.
Have a lovely weekend!
