Friday 10th June

Happy Friday!

We hope you al had a wonderful half term break. As always, we have enjoyed hearing about the children’s adventures and it seems that many of them watched at least some of the Jubilee celebrations on the television.

We hope that all of our families have had the opportunity to look at the Jubilee books the children received today. We were pretty impressed by the quality of them and certainly would encourage our children to look after them and save them for when they are older - they are certainly unlikely to receive another one! There were some gasps and giggles today when we mentioned saving them to share with their own children and grandchildren one day!

We are currently experiencing a paper shortage! Apparently, there is a national paper shortage and this has resulted in the cost of paper doubling recently. We have been able to purchase A4 paper, but in a smaller amount and at a much bigger cost. We are now rationing it! Yes children, your school adults do now need to ask for paper as we are keeping it locked up! It just goes to show how everyone is affected by the current cost of living crisis. Things can start to look a little bleak, so we are making decisions now that will support us in the future. As of September, our written communications will be delivered via email. Mr Patel and Miss Lee are currently checking the information we hold on our records and phone calls will be made to those families where we don’t have the required information or where the information held on our in-school system and Parent Mail doesn’t match up. Please do inform us straight away if your contact details - phone number, address and email - changes. You will need to make the changes on Parent Mail personally as we are not able to do this for you. If you do not have access to an email address, Miss Lee will be able to record this on our system and we can offer an alternative paper copy.

Despite the paper shortage, it remains important that we continue to communicate effectively with our families. Please do make sure you are checking this blog weekly for information regarding the school. We have also saved some paper (in a secret place) to ensure we can provide letters until the end of this term. Today your child should have handed you a letter with dates for the remainder of this academic year.

Friday 17th June – Mufti Day (donations for the Summer Fair). A letter has been sent to all families with further details about what we are collecting for the Summer Fair. As your children will be in their own clothes on this day, please be mindful that it could be a warm day and the children will need to be dressed appropriately to protect them from the sun.

Friday 24th June 3.30pm – Summer Fair. We hope that all of our families will be able to join us for this event. There will be different stalls for you to enjoy and it will be the first event we’ve had where our whole school community is on-site at one time since the Covid19 restrictions have lifted. The event will be held outdoors. All money raised goes straight back to the enhancement of the children’s education.

Tuesday 5th July – Reception to Y5 ‘Meet the Teacher’ morning for children. We know that are children are eager to find out who their teacher will be next year - the guessing games have already begun! Some teachers have definitely been cloned as they are appearing in predictions for every year group!

Thursday 7th July – Sports Day (we will confirm times with you asap). Sports Day is always weather dependent - it will go ahead as long as it isn’t raining or too hot! We plan to have a Sports Day event for each phase and we will communicate the exact timings with you very shortly. Parents and carers are invited to watch their children in this event.

Friday 8th July – Annual reports published for parents and carers. Teaching staff are in the process of writing the children’s individual reports for this academic year (in fact, they will have spent most of the half term break writing them). Once they have been completed we will be sharing them with you. Many children tell us about the incentives they have for receiving a good report - money, sweets, toys! But, there is noting better than a big hug and lots of praise!

Tuesday 12th July 3.30pm to 5.45pm – Reception to Y5 ‘Meet the Teacher’ for parents and carers. This is an opportunity for parents and carers to come into school and meet their child’s teacher for the academic year 2022/23. It is also a chance to see their new classroom environment. We would encourage all parents and carers to attend this event, even if you know the teacher. There is no need to book an appointment but please be mindful that it is very busy at 3.30pm, so if you wish to speak to the teacher in more detail then we would suggest you come after 4.30pm. Children are welcome to attend this event also.

Wednesday 13th July 1.45pm and 6.30pm – Year 6 production to parents and carers. Parents and carers of children in year six are invited to attend this ticketed event. I have heard the children sing and all I can say is ‘wow’.

Monday 18th July 2pm – Reception Graduation for parents and carers. Moving from reception to year one is a milestone in your child’s educational journey and we like to mark this occasion with a small graduation ceremony. The reception staff will be sending out more details soon but we do hope our reception parents and carers will be able to join us.

Wednesday 20th July 12.05pm and 1pm – Year 6 leaver’s assemblies. These are very special assemblies that allow our year six children and parents to say goodbye to the school - we now do it in classes as this allows more adults to attend and more time to be given to each individual child. Tissues will be needed!

Wednesday 20th July – last day of term!

We hope our children have enjoyed their first week of the final half term! Both phonics screening and multiplication checks have taken place this week and we have been amazed by the progress some of our children have made. Our weather continues to be unpredictable, so we would ask that the children come to school ready for all weathers - both rain and sun!

With two minutes to go until the computer shuts down for the weekend, it is time to end this week’s blog.

Have a great weekend everyone and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Stay safe.
