Friday 5th March
Happy Friday!
Only three more sleeps until the return of all our children! Yay! I hope you are all as excited as we are. This afternoon we have done our final checks to make sure everything is ready for your return. Your teachers and teaching assistants have been working hard to get your classrooms ready and they are all looking very tidy and inviting. Parents and carers, we have sent a letter today, via a text message link, with details of our expectations for when the children return.
On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day in school. Did you celebrate at home? Many, many times I have written about the importance of reading in the Headteacher’s Blog and I am always telling you about my own love of reading. A good book can open up a whole new world; a good book can help you to make sense of the world around you; a good book can take you to a world beyond your imagination; a good book can make the impossible seem possible; a good book can have you on the edge of your seat; a good book can have you howling with laughter; put simply, when you find a good book the experience is amazing!
For World Book Day, the staff enjoyed taking part in the Masked Reader. I hope you enjoyed participating at home. Thank you to Miss Best for organising it. The staff and children also enjoyed wearing their pyjamas to school, in recognition that reading bedtime stories is an important part of childhood. Do you have a favourite bedtime story? I used to love the Beatrix Potter books being read to me and now I read them to my niece - she loves Peter Rabbit but my favourite character is Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. Below are lots of photographs of the staff on World Book Day, but their heads have been cut off (can’t have been a very good photographer). Can you guess who is in each photograph?
I am going to leave you guessing who is who! I must go home and make sure I am ready for your return on Monday. I don’t know what routines you have had during this lockdown but when your grown-ups tell you to go to bed on Sunday night as you have school in the morning, you need to listen. You are going to need lots of energy come Monday!
We can’t wait to see your smiling faces on Monday. Have good weekend.
Stay safe.
