Thursday 5th December
Happy Thursday!
Our performance cycle began today with year three starting things off with their fantastic class performance on who was the most successful invader. They did a brilliant horrible histories episode, where they taught their adults all about the Romans, Celts, Anglo Saxons and the Vikings. They wowed their audience with their impressive dance and musical performances. Well done year three you made both your home and school adults very proud!
Speaking of year three, half of the year group attended a carol service in St John’s church in Halesowen on Wednesday. They arrived back full of stories about singing Christmas songs in the church
On Tuesday, year one was treated to a visit from several fire fighters and a fire engine. They looked at what to do in the event of a fire and even got to try out the hose!
On Wednesday, we held our outdoor Christmas fayre. This was a tradition we started last year, and we were pleased that the weather held out for us to be able to make it happen again this year. Mrs Higgins led the organisation of the fayre and did a brilliant job at ensuring everything was set up and ready to go. We found that visiting Santa and the food stall selling donuts and candy floss were particularly popular. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, the money raised supports our children to have wonderful experiences in school.
Today, our nursery parents attended school to share Christmas activities with their children. This was a lovely event that saw parents and children being creative together - in fact, they were so creative we had to replenish our resources between the two sessions. There were some lovely homemade cards!
Across the course of this week, there have been lots of DT projects being completed:
- Year five made some delicious looking shortbread
- Year four worked on creating their green house prototype
- Year six finished off their World War Two aircraft
Design and Technology (DT) plays a crucial role in our curriculum by fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on projects, children are encouraged to design and create innovative solutions to real-world challenges, enhancing their practical skills and boosting confidence.
All of our staff will be heading off to different schools from our Academy Trust tomorrow (hence the reason I am writing the blog on a Thursday instead of on Friday) to do some of their own learning. We hope you enjoy the three-day weekend, and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday.
