Friday 9th February
Happy Friday!
Well, we have reached the end of Spring term one in just five weeks! The half term may have been short, but we still needed to find time to fit everything in and that has sometimes felt like a bit of squeeze! The children will return to school on Monday 19th February.
This week has been Children’s Mental Health Week, and many of our classes have been discussing the importance of keeping both their body and mind healthy. As a whole community we want our children to feel happy the majority of the time, but we also recognise that there will be times when they feel sad, or upset, or a little bit down - as adults it is important that we are role modelling what do when we feel like this, and to encourage the children to talk about how they are feeling.
On Wednesday we had a very special visitor in school - Rebecca Adlington (former Olympic swimmer). She delivered an assembly to the children on the importance of water safety, and she shared her Olympic medals. We were very impressed with the quality of the questions the children asked. Thank you to Miss Flood who organised this event for the children.
On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon Miss Best delivered an e-safety workshops for parents where they discussed the basics of online safety and the risks that our children face growing up in the digital age. Miss Best shared strategies for seeking support and ways in which risks can be minimised in order to ensure that our children are safe online. A key message was the importance of parents monitoring their child’s online activities.
Strong attendance at school is key to your child having a successful education. We do look for different ways to celebrate attendance and today Pear Class have been recognised for their good attendance record as group. They will now have a movie afternoon with snacks (according to the children, the snacks are very important) when they return after the half term break. We do have some Easter treats ready for the end of next half term for those children who have eggcellent attendance and punctuality over the five weeks (yes, it is another short one).
We wish all our families a lovely break and look forward to seeing you all soon.
