Friday 5th July

Happy Friday!

The weeks really are flying past as we head towards the summer holidays and there is still so much to fit into the next two weeks!

Last Friday night, the year four sleepover took place. The children had an amazing time and were treated to a range of activities. Miss Knight, Miss Jenkins, Mrs Stonehouse, Mrs Shinner and Mrs Higgins ran a carousel of activities where the children had the chance to take part in an obstacle course, make chocolate crispy cakes and make a keyring. Miss Homer cooked up a storm of hot dogs and chips and Mrs White stayed after school to provide a campfire where the children were able to roast marshmallows and make them into s’mores. The children then ended the evening with a movie night and were able to enjoy lots of delicious snacks including ice cream and flavoured sauce. We can’t do events like this without the support of our staff, but it is so worth giving up our time just to see and hear the excitement of our children. Even after an early start on the Saturday morning (most of the children were awake at 5am) the children all went home smiling with stories of sleeping in their classroom. Thank you year four for such a lovely time!

On Wednesday, our new reception intake came for their stay-and-play visits and the children enjoyed the time spent in their new classroom with their new teacher. We can’t wait to welcome them all back again in September. It did mean that the current Reception had to move to a different part of the school for the day and they enjoyed their time in the hall, being creative and working with the construction equipment and they even had the chance to explore our outdoor adventure area during the afternoon.

On Wednesday afternoon, we held our ‘Meet the teacher’ session, where parents were given the opportunity to come and meet their child’s new teacher. It was lovely that so many of you came to say hello and were able to ask any questions you had regarding your child’s move into the next year group. The children are excited about their new learning experiences and hearing about the trips they have to look forward to.

Holly and Hazel class put on a memorable performance all about the history of the seaside. The children spoke confidently, remembered all their lines and thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing in front of their adults. Well done year one we are very proud of you showcasing your learning and thank you to the adults who came alongside to support you.

This week, our year six children have been visiting their new secondary schools. We know the children were feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement but having the chance to visit their new school and ask their important questions has helped to prepare them for the change coming in September. The children spoke positively about the lessons they had been in and the new friends they had made. We now only have ten days left with year six but with their upcoming production, leavers trip and party we know it will be an enjoyable two weeks.

We look forward to another busy week next week!

Have a lovely weekend!
