Friday 1st May

Happy Friday everyone! Did you clap for the keyworkers last night? I did, I was stood on my doorstep in my pyjamas.

Have you had a think about learning a new language? Following yesterday’s blog, Mrs Waters has been inspired to learn a new language and Mrs Homer (Y6) would like to learn Spanish and move to Spain (but not yet, she enjoys teaching all of you and wouldn’t want to leave you). If Miss Homer does achieve her dream, I hope that she will invite me for a visit.

I miss our school being together so much, especially all of you. There have been a lot of changes to my weekly routine, and I know you have experienced lots of changes as well. As today is a Friday, it would have been Star of the Week Assembly. I love doing Star of the Week Assembly as it means I get to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful children and spend time with them and their families. I always get goose bumps when we sing our special song - you sing it so well. I’ve got the power in me, you’ve got the power in you…

As you will know, we have sent home Star of the Week badges for your grown-ups to recognise your achievements whilst you are at home. We have explained that there are lots of reasons why they could award you the badge: being helpful towards others, tidying your bedroom, completing your online learning, making everyone laugh, showing kindness, being an always child or something more specific. Once they have awarded you the badge, we have asked them to email us and let us know why they gave it to you. We are working our way through the emails and have started to upload our Stars of the Week onto the Hall of Stars (you will find it under PUPILS on the website). We would really like all of our children to be included, so grown-ups get emailing us: info@olive.dudley.sch.uk.

Children, if you think one of your school grown-ups should be awarded Star of the Week then drop me an email: children@olive.dudley.sch.uk. If you mark the email FAO Miss Grasby it will be forwarded to me and I can arrange for them to safely receive their badge and I will put the reason on the Hall of Stars. I look forward to receiving your emails.

Sending our best wishes to you and all of your family. We miss you so much.

Stay safe.
