Friday 19th November
Happy Friday!
Well, today has been a day full of spots! Thank you to all of our families who supported our Children In Need appeal. We raised £205.94. We know that the money raised will go towards supporting children who are most in need. Hopefully many of you will be watching Children In Need on the television this evening. Being able to read the large numbers involved with the amount of money raised is a great maths skill!
Apart from the spots, we have also had lots of ears around school today. At one point I was trying to have a very important conversation with Mr Priest and I just started to laugh because I was distracted by his Pudsey ears! We’ve even had some flashing ears around school!
At the start of this week we had our first data drop of the academic year, this is where every class teacher is expected to make an assessment of each individual’s child learning in reading, writing and maths according to age related expectations. Each child will be assessed as working at, working above, working towards or working below expectations. Miss Best, as assessment lead, then spent lots of time number crunching! Where children are not achieving age related expectations we look to identify any barriers that could be preventing them from making the expected progress and there is a strong correlation between this and poor levels of attendance. It is really important that your child is in school, on time, every day unless illness prevents them from being able to attend. Please remember that the school gates close at 8.55am, children arriving after this time do not make it to their class before the end of registration and are therefore late. Children should be collected from school at 3.10pm.
Our children who attend Breakfast Club have been working on an art and craft project this week. They have been creating a Christmas Tree that will be displayed at St Paul’s Church as part of their Christmas Tree Festival. The festival is taking place from Friday 26th November to Sunday 28th November and visitors are welcome to attend.
We hope you all have a great weekend.
Stay safe.
