Friday 18th March

Happy Friday!

The goats have returned again this week! They did not even wait until the weekend. Some staff, who arrive super early to school each morning, have actually managed to capture a video of them bouncing about amongst the trees. They have not yet appeared whilst the children have been on site but watch this space!

This week we have been hosting Sounds-Write training in school. Sounds-Write is the phonics scheme that we use to support our children in learning how to read. We have been joined by other schools and all have commented on how calm the school is and the wonderful manners of the children.

On Wednesday, our reception classes experienced their first school trip. Despite the rain, they had a wonderful time and loved seeing all the different animals. Some were even brave enough to hold a snake! They all loved having a picnic lunch, and many were so exhausted at the end of the day they had a little snooze on the coach! All of the children were impeccably well behaved throughout the day and they were an absolute pleasure to take out of school.

We know that some of our families will be celebrating the festival of Holi. Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more a time for fun. It's a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water. Holi is also known as the "festival of colours". It certainly sounds like a great festival to celebrate and we look forward to hearing about it from our children.

Today the school has been a sea of red! We have had all kinds of red accessories, especially football tops. Thank you to all our families who donated to Comic Relief. Your donations help support people to live free from poverty, violence and discrimination. This includes funding organisations that are supporting people right now in Ukraine, and those attempting to cross the border.

Sunday 20th March will mark two years since we first had to limit the number of children on site due to a national lockdown. This will be one of those moments that many of us will never forget. We have all experienced an incredible amount of change in those two years. Not all of those changes have been negative, we all have a renewed focus on what is important in life and a greater respect for the freedom we have. Despite the many changes we have needed to make in school we remain dedicated to our children and to doing the best for them.

Fingers crossed that this lovely weather will continue over the weekend. If it does, I hope you make the most of being outdoors.

Have a lovely weekend all.

Stay safe.
