Friday 14th January

Happy Friday!

This week we had a special visitor in school, an OFSTED inspector. The lead inspector spent two days at Olive Hill carrying out a Section 8 Inspection (our last inspection, in January 2015, was a Section 5). We are not able to say much about the outcome of the inspection at this point as it must now go through a quality assurance process. As the headteacher I was exceptionally proud of both the staff and children. Thank you to all of the parents and carers for their kind words of encouragement. We will circulate the report when this is made available to us. As it is a Section 8 report, it will not be overly detailed so it may well be accompanied by one of our epic letters!

We have seen an increase in the number of Covid19 cases in school. We have sent letters to individual classes via text link where appropriate. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any actions that you need to take. We would strongly advise all our families to keep a stock of LFDs in the house and to test the children regularly when advised to do so. Unfortunately we are not able to provide these tests for you (although we believe it would be good idea if we could). As the guidance has changed several times, and is due to change again early next week, our advice is to phone the school and speak to Mrs Bird who will do her best to support you if you think your child could have Covid19 or has tested positive for Covid19. Positive test results (both LFT and PCR) must be reported to the school. Please phone the school office during our opening hours of 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Please email covidreporting@olive.dudley.sch.uk outside of these hours.

After this week the staff are very tired and they were under strict instruction tonight to leave the building at a sensible time. It is now my time to do the same. I think we will all be fast asleep before even our youngest children this evening. After we’ve had our weekend of rest we will all be ready to greet our wonderful children on Monday morning once again.

Have a great weekend all.

Stay safe.
