Friday 10th November
Happy Friday!
We hope all of our families had a lovely half term break. The weather may not have been that kind, but it is always good to spend time with family and friends.
The return to school has been as busy as ever, with today being one of those days where our feet haven’t touched the ground! It was lovely to see everyone enjoying our scarecrows today - nursery’s hedgehog was so cute! There were also a few scary looking scarecrows, and Aladdin’s hat was no where near his head by the end of the day. The Roman and the Celt kept guard over the school for the day, and it looked like Red Riding Hood and the wolf had made friends. We also had some royal visitors from year one, a scary looking Victorian, a land girl and an air raid warden, a brilliantly detailed explorer along with characters from Song of the Dolphin Boy. Not forgetting Supertato, complete with vegetable friends!
To view our scarecrows, please visit our new Facebook page which went live today (you should have received a letter via Parent Mail about this today). Miss Walters, supported by our resident IT expert Mr Patel, have been working hard behind the scenes to get this up and running, it was very complicated. Thank you to all our families who have already followed us, this will replace our Twitter (now known as X) account.
On Monday many of our children had their flu vaccination, for any children that missed out (and where parents wish for them to be vaccinated) we will be offering this service again on Tuesday 28th November. You must complete the form online via the link that has been sent previously.
Today our year six children visited the war memorial at Shell Corner. As always, our children showed the upmost respect and were able to make links with their learning in the classroom. Thank you to all of our families who have supported our Poppy Appeal this year.
This week their have been just a few marmalade sandwiches in the environment. Year two have been writing instructions about how to make a marmalade sandwich - although some of them weren’t very clear and I spread marmalade on my arm rather than the bread! Marmalade sandwiches also made an appearance during enrichment this afternoon, as some of children designed and made sandwiches as part of their session.
Our Family Christmas Event (otherwise known as the Christmas Fair) will be held after school on Wednesday 13th December. If any of our community would like a stall at the event please collect a form from the school office.
Some of our families will be celebrating the Diwali this weekend, and we hope they have a fabulous time celebrating this festival of light. We look forward to hearing about the children’s experiences on Monday.
A quick reminder that Friday 1st December is an INSET day and the school will be closed to children.
Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend.
